What is sleep therapy?

Sleep therapy is a specialization within physiotherapy that focuses on sleep onset and maintenance problems, as well as early awakening. We understand everything about how sleep works, the causes of sleep problems, and how to solve them. We continuously educate ourselves to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of sleep.

Sleeping often isn’t just about what happens at night, but rather what you do during the day. Therefore, we work with you to understand your daytime activities, relaxation techniques, and factors influencing your sleep. Together, we can discover the root cause of your sleep problem and how to address it. You don’t need an expensive sleep coach; with us, you’ll receive help based on scientific knowledge and personalized attention.
We examine the complaints/problems from a 24-hour perspective and systematically identify where your sleep problem originates and how to resolve it.

We teach you to relax and unwind, both during the day and at night, and help you worry less about sleep. Research shows that this often has a significant effect on your sleep problem!

What does the treatment process look like?

  1. Send us an email or give us a call, and you’ll often have a spot for an intake within a week.
  2. We start by unraveling your sleep problem during an intake session, which usually lasts about 45 minutes. Often, you’ll receive exercises to work on at home right away.
  3. Together with your therapist, you’ll set a goal and plan so that you know what to focus on after the first session.
  4. You’ll undergo 2-6 treatments. Each week, you’ll receive advice and exercises to work on. Often, the effect is significant after the first treatment!
  5. Evaluation: After the agreed number of sessions, you’ll evaluate the results with your therapist and determine whether more sessions are needed or if you can continue on your own.
  6. Follow-up: After a few weeks, the therapist will contact you to check on your progress.

Does your teenager also stay up much later than you do? Are you unable to get them out of bed in the morning? Is their school performance suffering due to sleep problems? Are you wondering if your child is depressed or if the sadness is caused by poor sleep?

Teens also go through physiological changes when it comes to sleep. Difficulty falling asleep, not waking up to their alarm, or sleeping almost more during the day than at night are common issues. The circadian rhythm of teens shifts significantly during puberty, often causing them to fall asleep much later.

We can help you and your teenager! We teach your teenager how to become sleepy in the evening and wake up in the morning. We explain to your teenager how sleep works and how they can gain more control over it.
